What We Do

Pastor Brian’s Message

Hello from Pastor Brian!

Hello there! Thanks for checking out our church’s website. My name is Rev. Brian Falkenholt. That’s why people call me Pastor Brian. I have been a pastor since 1999 and I have been serving this congregation since December 2013. I am married to Diane and we have two grownup children, Kayla and Jared.

We live in a time where the world around us seems to be constantly changing and humanity seems to be on the brink of dysfunction and turmoil on a regular basis. That is why Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church strives to live by two foundational principles: We hold to the Bible as God’s Word completely, from beginning to end; and we seek to be a group of people who are humble, loving and encouraging.

God’s Word is our foundation, our rock, because it points us to Jesus Christ, the saviour of the world. There are many in our world who see the Bible as an outdated book of fairy tales and who hold truth as relative, based on their worldview. There are some among Christian churches who will pick and choose the parts of the Bible that are comfortable for them. When we get to pick and choose or base truth on feelings and bias, we are actually worshipping ourselves, what is known as humanism. As believers in Jesus Christ as the Son of God, we place ourselves under His knowledge and truth, knowing that He is a God who is loving and just and holy and righteous and who sacrificed His only Son so that death wouldn’t have to be the final word. That is why we stand on God’s Word completely. We can do no other. This is where we stand.

At the same time, we are a group of humble sinners, who gather to receive the gifts of God. We recognize that no one is perfect and that is why we need Jesus. We are striving here at Christ Lutheran to create an environment where everyone is welcome and that we do not see anyone as less than. We all have strengths and weaknesses. We all have our journeys in life. We are a group of people whose journey has brought them here, to the foot of the cross. Some people say that religion is a crutch. It is true. A crutch helps you through a time of brokenness. We are simply broken people who know that Jesus is the one to make us whole. And we always have room for more.
